1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Ampro Sales Limited ("Ampro", "we", "us"), the authorised New Zealand distributor of Stanley products, collects, uses, stores and shares your personal information when you use nz.stanley1913.com (the "Site"), buy from us, or sign up for our emails or texts.
We comply with the Privacy Act 2020. This policy forms part of our Terms & Conditions.

3. What we collect

4. How we collect it
We collect information directly from you when you place an order, create an account, sign up for emails or texts, enter a promotion, submit a warranty claim or contact us.
We also collect information automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you use the Site or open our emails (see section 7).
You don't have to give us your personal information. If you don't, we may not be able to process your order or respond to your request.
5. How we use it
We use your personal information to:
- process, deliver and support your orders, returns and warranty claims
- manage your account
- respond to your questions and requests
- send marketing emails and texts, if you have signed up
- personalise what we show you on the Site and in our messages
- show you relevant Stanley ads on other platforms (such as Meta and Google)
- understand how the Site is used, so we can improve it
- prevent fraud and keep the Site secure
- meet our legal obligations, such as tax record-keeping
6. Email and SMS marketing
We only send marketing emails or texts if you have agreed to receive them. We keep a record of when and how you signed up. Email and SMS are separate choices.
You can unsubscribe at any time. Click "unsubscribe" in any email, reply STOP to any text, or contact us. We process unsubscribe requests within 5 working days, as required by the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. We will still send you service messages about your orders.
We use Klaviyo to send our emails and texts. Klaviyo records whether you open our emails, click links and reply to texts. We use this to improve our messages and to avoid sending you too many.
We do not sell your email address or mobile number, or share them with anyone for their own marketing. See section 9 of our Terms & Conditions for the full email and SMS terms.
7. Cookies and advertising pixels
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to:
- keep your cart and login working (essential)
- measure Site traffic and performance (e.g. Google Analytics)
- measure and target our advertising (e.g. the Meta Pixel and Google Ads tags)
- link your Site activity to our emails (Klaviyo)
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the Site may not work properly. You can manage ad preferences in your Meta and Google account settings.
8. Who we share it with
We share personal information only as needed to run our business:

We do not share your personal information with PMI WW Brands, LLC (the Stanley 1913 brand owner). Warranty claims for Stanley products are handled by Ampro Sales Limited (Stanley 1913 New Zealand).
9. Storage outside New Zealand
Some of our service providers (including Shopify, Klaviyo, Google and Meta) store information outside New Zealand, including in the United States, Canada and Australia. When they hold information on our behalf, we remain responsible for it under the Privacy Act. We choose providers with appropriate security and privacy protections.
10. Security and how long we keep it
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. This includes using providers with encryption and access controls.
We keep order records for at least 7 years to meet tax requirements. We keep marketing data while you are subscribed and for 24 months after you unsubscribe, so we can respect your choice. We delete or anonymise other information when we no longer need it.
If a privacy breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as required by law.
11. Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it. Contact our privacy officer (section 2). We will respond within 20 working days. You can also update your details and marketing preferences in your account at any time.
12. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact our privacy officer first. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The updated policy applies from the date it is posted on the Site.
